L’ESSEC Business School ouvre deux postes de professeur de droit

L’ESSEC Business School ouvre deux postes à pourvoir au sein de l’équipe des professeurs de droit (qui compte actuellement 5 professeurs-chercheurs et 2 professors of management practice).

Le poste de professeur-chercheur est à pourvoir par un enseignant-chercheur spécialisé en droit des affaires / droit économique, parce que c’est dans ces domaines que les professeurs de l’ESSEC sont principalement appelés à intervenir. Une spécialisation ou un intérêt marqué pour des domaines comme la transition écologique ou les aspects juridiques liés aux nouvelles technologies et à l’innovation (données, intelligence artificielle, etc.) seraient particulièrement pertinents. Les attentes de l’ESSEC sur la recherche et les publications internationales (c’est-à-dire essentiellement dans des revues internationales) sont particulièrement fortes à l’égard de la personne qui sera recrutée comme professeurs-chercheurs. Le nouveau professeur-chercheur en droit dispensera ses enseignements essentiellement en anglais dans différents programmes. L’ESSEC privilégie les personnes ayant une carrière internationale ou un parcours et pluridisciplinaire. Ce recrutement est ouvert aussi bien à un profil junior (doctorat obtenu récemment) qu’à des profils plus seniors.

Le poste de « professor of management practice » en droit des affaires vise à recruter une personne ayant une expérience professionnelle et une forte capacité à enseigner le droit des affaires en anglais dans les différents programmes de l’ESSEC (grande école, BBA, etc.) qui accueillent de nombreux étudiants internationaux. En outre, une minorité d’étudiants se destinent aux professions du droit (formation assurée conjointement par l’ESSEC et des universités partenaires) tandis que la plupart des étudiants se destinent à des carrières non juridiques (création et direction d’entreprise, conseil, finance, haute fonction publique, etc.). Les professors of management practice ont une charge de cours répartie sur 4 ou 5 jours par semaine et n’ont pas d’obligations de recherche. Il n’est pas nécessaire d’être titulaire d’un doctorat. Ce recrutement vise particulièrement des professionnels du droit (avocats, directeurs juridiques…) qui souhaiteraient donner une nouvelle orientation à leur carrière, sans abandonner complétement, le cas échéant, la pratique du droit. Ce poste est en effet compatible avec le maintien d’une activité professionnelle extérieure à l’ESSEC limitée à un jour par semaine (consulting, arbitrage…).

Rennes School of Business / Permanent Position in law inside the chair of geopolitics

About the position

Rennes School of Business (Rennes SB) is opening a permanent faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the various sub-areas of political economy. We are looking for a Faculty member who has strong teaching and research tracks in one or more of the following specializations:

  • Geoeconomics
  • Geopolitics of finance
  • Legal regulation of the economy
  • Legal regulation of the environment

Start date is Sept 2023. Appointment will be made at the rank consistent with research, teaching records and the number of years of experience at a comparable institution.

We focus on research that matters for academia and practice. The school boasts a new institute for advanced studies — The Centre for Unframed Thinking — and research centers devoted to tomorrow’s organization, AI-driven business, financial markets, green supply chain and agribusiness (Research centres rennes-sb.com). The recruited professor of law or economics will integrate the chair of geopolitics of Rennes School of Business, which is currently supervising the MSc Geopolitics & Business, and soon the Master in International Business, Negotiations and Geopolitics.

  • Ability to teach in English (knowledge of French is not required).

EMLYON / Position in Law at Associate professor level

To participate to the development of its programs, emlyon business school is seeking highly motivated candidates, who demonstrate pedagogical excellence in International Business Law, Company Law and Tax Law. Applications are invited at associate professor level, primary focus on teaching, beginning part time on August 21st, 2023.

The selected candidate is expected to teach in French as well as in English. Teaching opportunities will be mostly focused on the undergraduate level (BBA) and, on postgraduate level at masters (PGE and International master’s degrees) and executive levels. Responsibilities for this position include capabilities to design and manage courses in International Business Law, Company Law and Tax Law (an introductory course on Business taxation) and coordinate a network of professional lecturers. Conducting communications in professional and/or academic journals is another important requirement of this position.

The selected candidate will closely collaborate with our existing team of professors and researchers in the Law, Management and Social Sciences Department.

Teaching will be delivered principally in Lyon and Saint-Etienne campuses but can also be delivered in Paris campus.

IÉSEG School of Management invites applications for  adjunct positions in Law within the Law Track

IÉSEG School of Management is looking for candidates with a master’s degree (LLM or equivalent), a PhD in LAW, or LAW & ECONOMICS, PhD students or candidates with legal professional experience, ideally with previous successful teaching experience.

Candidates must be knowledgeable and able to teach from an international law and/or comparative law and/or law and economics and/or proactive law perspective, intellectual property law, and/or company law, and/or international business law and/or legal method and/or competition law and/or data protection law.

The language of instruction is English. Fluency in this language is, therefore, essential.

Candidates must show evidence of teaching skills and/or strong professional experience. The number of teaching hours offered can be compatible with other professional activities.

Applicants should be fluent in English as all courses at IÉSEG are taught in this language. Prior knowledge of French is not required.

Adjunct professors are expected to prepare courses, and teach and evaluate students, working together under the supervision of a course coordinator. Experience in teaching is a plus.

University of Groningen : 3 Postdocs ethics/law/economics/psychology of misinformation and stereotypes

Job description

The University of Groningen is recruiting three postdocs to join a team led by Boudewijn de Bruin. The postdocs will contribute to an interdisciplinary research project on motivated cognition and non-evidential belief formation. The project involves normative (ethics, law) and empirical (economics, psychology) research, and designing and testing policy instruments.

Successful candidates should have an interest in the ethical, legal, and social science aspects of “non-evidential beliefs,” or “motivated cognition,” such as racist and sexist stereotypes, climate change denial, belief in fake news, conspiracy theories, etc. They should be excited to work in an interdisciplinary environment in which normative (ethical, legal) and empirical (economic, psychological) issues are constantly integrated. Topics that they should be interested in include such things as legal solutions to misinformation, psychological tools to combat motivated cognition, organizational remedies against group stereotypes, as well as philosophical and ethical approaches to intellectual or epistemic virtues.

Qualifications

  • candidates should have a PhD in philosophy, ethics, law, economics, or psychology
  • since part of the project is to work with external parties in business and government, they should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to reach out to non-academic stakeholders.

The appointee will be based in the Faculty of Economics & Business and the Centre for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, of the University of Groningen.
